I guess this will allow more fresh air in?

Summer has arrived to southern California and with it, insane temperature swings and glorious sunsets as a result of brush fires. Yes, summer is quite an event in California.

Growing up in the basin area, I've always just assumed that the crazy windy days of late June / early July were just part of the package. I had no idea that other areas didn't regularly receive wind gusts of 60 MPH and higher. Sometimes, treehouses get ripped out of their foundations and sandstorms remove the top layer of paint from your car, right?

California is beautiful and many people hold summer in high regards here. Don't get me wrong; it's pretty awesome. What isn't awesome is the freakishly powerful winds that rip through, tearing shingles from houses and propelling rocks and other debris through windows.
